If you are interested in changing up your evening routine while staying close to home, you should check out Creatively Yours (formerly known as Cocktails and Canvas) on Dresden Drive for a fun night of painting and conversing with friends. The studio offers adult art classes in a lively environment to Brookhaven patrons and visitors. The teachers are well-trained and provide a general framework for each class. Patrons are encouraged to ask questions, make alterations, but mostly, just to have fun and get creative.
Taryn Reed, artist and owner of the Brookhaven location, opened Creatively Yours in June of 2010. She explains, “I began Creatively Yours with the intention of offering an escape for people who work in an office every day. I wanted to give them the ability to discover their creativity and have fun in the process.”
The space is live with action. Creativity and energy immerse the space as soon as you enter through the doors. The music is upbeat and the patrons are animated as they get ready for the event and chat with friends.
Reed includes, “We celebrate events from date night to girl’s night out as well as offer private events from bachelorette and birthday parties. It’s a new mix each night which keeps the atmosphere a party.”
Reed instructs most of the classes at Creatively Yours (including the event that I attended). She comments, “I love interacting with students to help them achieve something that they are not certain they can do. Most of my students have never painted and are amazed at the work they produce.”
The studio offers an array of classes featuring different paintings for each night of the week. Beginning this summer, Creatively Yours will offer a new frequent Painter’s club reward. Students who have painted 10 times will receive a free class.
All supplies are provided with registration fee including your work space, canvas, acrylic paints, brushes and water. Cost varies according to class time and level. In any case, don’t forget your favorite evening beverage. This establishment is BYOB.
