Town met country in Aynhoe Park's homage to the royal nuptials with their 'A Right Royal Rave Up' party. James Perkins' private mansion and party venue du jour played host to the well-heeled London and country set who turned up in force to celebrate with legendary designer Matthew Williamson, Jeremy Healy, society fashionista Georgina Goodman, photographer and party princess, Tiggy Kennedy, and Chinawhite DJs, and the princes' favourites, Rusty Egan and Hugo Heathcote.

The theme of the night was "Kings & Queens & all that means," prompting the ultimate in outrageous party attire; the hot-steppers danced the night away and chomped through delicious 'Best of British' themed canapés featuring homemade miniature quails scotch eggs from the Aynhoe Park kitchen.

What better way to celebrate this patriotic weekend in style than with a fancy dress, hedonistic rave-up in a English stately home.

It was possible to hold an event on the day of the royal wedding which went some way to matching the pure, unadulterated grandeur of the nuptials themselves, then Aynhoe Park's Right Royal Carry On was one such occasion.

The 29th April saw the house and grounds packed with 1400 people watching the events live from a specifically installed big screen while filling their senses with some of the best quality music, local food, chic shopping and quintessentially British entertainment in the area. As with all things at Aynhoe Park, nothing was done by halves: Guests could observe the wedding from the ‘Royal Enclosure’ whilst sipping champagne or outside on the lawn savoring home-made sausage rolls, scotch quails eggs, roast beef and horseradish sandwiches and other delicious local food from Aynhoe Park’s kitchen in a picnic style; while children were entertained by a ten foot giraffe, ostrich and ferret racing, and an array of gun dogs. The patriotic fun and games was all set against the backdrop of Aynhoe's ancient Palladian estate where locals and out-of-towners have been celebrating for centuries.

The day belonged to William and Kate, but Aynhoe Park mixed the best of British with its classic idiosyncrasy. Once the children had, had their fill, the party went on in to the evening where guests could rock to Chinawhite DJ, Rusty Egan, who remixed the best of the 1980’s in pure Aynhoe Park style. But the finale came when a local opera singer burst into ‘God Save The Queen’ thrilling everyone in to a round of song and wild applause. It seems that a thoroughly good time was had by all. Thank goodness for the morning after savior, and our dear old friend, Alka Seltzer...
